Getting To Know You……..And Your Garden!
Every garden like every individual has its own unique personality……and like every person, it takes a little time to truly get to know its idiosyncrasies. Some are soft and romantic, others brash, brazen and in-your-face. The garden you create is yours, borne of your emotions, needs, likes and dislikes……and will be yours alone (unless of course you’re also designing for your partner or family). It then becomes an amalgam of tastes and functions to satisfy all in your household. That is not necessarily a bad thing…….sometimes we need to be “roped in” a little to avoid going too crazy with ideas. Sometimes “less is more” is the right way to go about things, only you can decide what’s right for you!
So what’s the first thing you should consider when setting out to design a garden? The answer of course is yourself, and those who will regularly be using it with you.
Take some time to know yourself and what you really want to accomplish. Ask the family. Once you’ve done this and made some notes, you’ll be on your way to a clearly defined focus of intent.
Next step is how you’re going to relate what you want with what you have.
Till next time,
David
